Summary

This bill provides for a 'special advocate' to protect a non-citizen’s interests when evidence is heard in the absence of the public and of the person and their counsel.

This bill also establishes procedure and limits to detaining and trying a non-citizen being named in a security certificate.

It also enables the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to apply for the non-disclosure of confidential information during a judicial review of a decision made under this act.
